Cincinnati Engagement

Kelly and Blaine are getting married soon! My blog has been primarily a bunch of tips and reflections on wedding planning lately – that’s just what I’ve enjoyed writing about – but I have literally hundreds of actual sessions I haven’t written about or shared. Maybe it’s time to start changing that, starting with these two and their Cincinnati engagement session.

Full disclosure, Kelly is my sister. She’s one of my four siblings who live in Ohio – land of Skyline Chili, lush forests, and Rhinegiest brewing.

Kind of a funny side note – I always thought it was a unique fact about me that I have four siblings, but I’ve found that’s getting so common! Families are changing and growing all the time. Often people have 2-3 step siblings. So now, a question I’ll sometimes get is, ”Are you full siblings?” Yes, we are. My parents have been married over 30 years. So that’s my new fun fact – I have two brothers, two sisters, and we’re all full siblings.

Back to Kelly and Blaine. Kelly and I are about as different as possible. Kelly is so funny and kind – she works as a speech language pathologist with kids with special needs. She’s also very practical and knows exactly what she wants. I, on the other hand, am much more of an artistic soul, ready to buck convention at every turn. To illustrate our differences, my mom likes to tell this story: on my wedding day, we walked into a local florist and I just asked for any orange flowers they had. My sister? The family took classes on flower arranging!

Even though we are different as can be in some ways, we worked so well together for her and Blaine’s Cincinnati engagement photos. We shot at five different locations over two days with three different outfits. We didn’t miss anything! Some of the spots we hit were Eden Park, George Rogers Clark Park, the Reading Bridal District, and University of Cincinnati’s campus – where they both attended school.

Kelly and Blaine have been dating for nearly a decade. They met in dance class (can you tell from their photos?!), and while they weren’t friends right away, once they got together, they never looked back.

These two grew up together – there’s really nothing like that kind of connection. It’s rare, it’s beautiful, and I can’t wait to celebrate with them in a few short weeks. Congrats, you two!
